Passing it down

My dad used to bring us up to Estes Park every summer. We’d come up as a family, mom and Jules, our grandma and grandad, Aunt Carolyn, Uncle Steve with Jenny and Danny. Summers spent at Long’s Peak Inn on the eastern slope of Long’s Peak.

Today we hiked up the eastern slope of Long’s Peak to Eugenia Mine. 3.8 miles starting at the Long’s Peak trailhead. 675′ of elevation gain cresting just over 10,000 feet up.

This place means a lot to me as it was the place I remember my father being the best father he could be.  To be here with Allison and bring our children here, it’s a pretty special feeling knowing another generation gets to share in it.
